Some love stories come with a soundtrack of spontaneity—and for this local Nashville elopement, the city truly played along.

Dr. Madeline, a recent transplant to Nashville for her medical residency, and her husband Marshall, a true Tennessee native, had always talked about something intimate and meaningful for their wedding day. Their original plan? A romantic elopement surrounded by the natural beauty of Percy Warner Park, one of Nashville’s most iconic green spaces. But, like so many great stories, theirs took an unexpected turn.

On the morning of their elopement, the skies opened up with scattered showers threatening the peaceful forest ceremony they had envisioned. Rather than let the weather steal their joy, Madeline and Marshall did what any couple in love with each other—and the city—would do: they pivoted.

We chose a new location giving us the ability to quickly take cover —a stunning overlook on Nashville’s Pedestrian Bridge, arching high above the Cumberland River with panoramic views of the skyline behind them. It was effortlessly Nashville and perfectly symbolic: a bridge between two journeys, two lives, and two hearts.

Their elopement was everything it needed to be—intimate, beautiful, and full of personal touches. Their loyal pup trotted down the bridge with them, tail wagging, part of every vow and every photo. After the ceremony, they FaceTimed their parents, who toasted from afar while Madeline and Marshall sipped their drinks and shared a dance on the ACME rooftop with the city buzzing below them. The live music from Broadway mixed with their laughter was a perfect beginning to the adventure part of their nashville elopement.

Afterward, they wandered the nearby streets of Printer’s Alley, pausing at some of their favorite downtown spots, snapping photos, sharing more hugs, and soaking in the vibrant pulse of the city that brought them together.

As their photographer, I felt lucky to witness how deeply present they were with each other. Rain couldn’t dampen the magic of their day—it only made it more unique. Madeline and Marshall are the kind of couple who remind you what really matters: connection, joy, and the courage to embrace whatever comes.

I’m already counting down the days until their elopement celebration this summer, where they’ll be gathering with friends and family to celebrate this incredible new chapter. It’s going to be filled with even more joy, and I can’t wait to photograph every minute of it.

Thinking about planning your own unforgettable Nashville elopement? Whether it’s a mountaintop moment, a city skyline ceremony, or a spontaneous adventure like Madeline and Marshall’s—your story deserves to be captured in a way that feels truly you.
